The Engineering for Health (E4H) interdisciplinary center is organising the fourth edition of its annual forum on November 20, 2025 at the EDF Lab Paris Saclay. The aim of this event is to highlight current research projects in the field of life sciences and to bring together researchers, medical doctors, engineers, startups and industry to encourage new interactions.

The Swarm Rescue Challenge is a simulated drone swarm programming competition focusing on topics with real-world impact. Organised by the Interdisciplinary Centre for Defence and Security Studies (CIEDS) and the French Ministerial agency for defence artificial intelligence (AMIAD) with the support of the French Defence innovation agency, it is open to all students from member schools of the Institut Polytechnique de Paris and schools under the supervision of the French Ministry of the Armed Forces.

Manon Blanc, former doctoral student at the Computer Science Laboratory of the École Polytechnique (LIX*), Polina Perstneva, postdoctoral researcher at the Center for Applied Mathematics (CMAP) of the École Polytechnique, Bianca Marin Moreno, former student at École Polytechnique (X 2018), and Julie Meunier, former student at ENSTA, are among the 34 winners of the L'Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science: A Generation of Innovators 2025 Young Talents France awards.

Michel Devoret, a former student at Télécom Paris (class of 1975), received the 2025 Nobel Prize in Physics alongside his British and American colleagues John Clarke and John M Martinis. The three scientists were recognized for their discovery of the macroscopic quantum tunneling effect and the quantization of energy in an electrical circuit.

AI and cybersecurity are certainly a matter of algorithms and encryption keys, but they are also a matter of regulation. And this has consequences for many sectors of activity. Thomas Le Goff, Assistant Professor in the Economics and Social Sciences department at Télécom Paris and the I3* laboratory, analyzes this legal framework and contributes to its improvement. His multidisciplinary work also helps companies comply with it while making the most of the technology. He presented his work at the IP Paris Cybersecurity and Defense Conference on October 21, 2025.

At the Computer Science Laboratory of the École Polytechnique (LIX*) and as part of the ORAILIX** team, Sonia Vanier combines operational research and artificial intelligence. In her roles as chair holder, she develops reliable, efficient, and secure algorithms that provide decision support to companies and industries facing complex problems. She presented her work at the IP Paris Cybersecurity and Defense Conference on October 21, 2025.

On October 1–2, 2025, Institut Polytechnique de Paris (IP Paris) and its interdisciplinary center Hi! PARIS hosted Professor Xiao-Li Meng (Harvard University), Founding Editor-in-Chief of the Harvard Data Science Review (HDSR). His visit marked a significant milestone in developing a leading international scientific collaboration on artificial intelligence.

At the SAMOVAR laboratory at Télécom SudParis, Gregory Blanc focuses his research on detecting intrusions in communication networks. Together with his team, the senior lecturer is developing reliable and reproducible techniques for characterizing network data and detecting anomalies in these networks. This research has applications in industrial and economic settings. Gregory Blanc presented his work at the IP Paris Cybersecurity and Defense Conference on October 21, 2025.

On October 21, 2025, the Institut Polytechnique de Paris will host the first edition of its Cybersecurity and Defense Conference. Industry leaders and civilian and defense researchers will discuss this sensitive topic, which is at the forefront of national and European issues. The event is being organized in partnership with the Interdisciplinary Centre for the Defence and Security Studies (CIEDS, supported by the Ministry of the Armed Forces and the Defence Innovation Agency) and with the support of the Digital Sovereignty Chair attached to the Institute for Higher National Defence Studies (IHEDN) thanks to its Endowment Fund.

With support from the French Defence innovation agency, CIEDS and CIMO are launching their new calls for projects starting in October 2026. The aim is to fund ambitious research projects in IP Paris laboratories targeting defence and security applications, which may be carried out in collaboration with academic or industrial partners.

The start of the 2025 academic year is an opportunity for Institut Polytechnique de Paris (IP Paris) to review the initiatives carried out across its schools to raise awareness of entrepreneurship among students and PhD candidates.
