Institut Polytechnique de Paris, CNRS and Thales have signed today a partnership for the creation of a joint laboratory for research and development of intense lasers. The HERACLES³ laboratory (Hautes Energies pour la Recherche en ACcélération Laser d'Electrons et Sources Secondaires à Saclay) aims to develop cutting-edge technologies based on intense lasers, with the potential for major industrial, medical and scientific applications.

For its first participation, Institut Polytechnique de Paris has made a strong entry, up to the 43rd place in the Times Higher Education (THE) world’s most international universities ranking 2022 . The first and only French institution in the Top 50, ahead of PSL University (64th), Sorbonne University (84th), University of Paris (93rd) and Paris-Saclay University (104th).

A team of researchers from six French laboratories, including the Laboratoire d'optique appliquée (Applied Optics Laboratory LOA*, has just published an article in Nature Photonics on a world first : the realization of light-emitting diodes (LEDs) based on nanocrystals emitting in the mid-infrared, a spectral range in which no efficient source was available until now.

IRT SystemX welcomes two new founding members to its Board of directors: Institut Polytechnique de Paris (IP Paris), which will be represented by Bruno Cattan (Head of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Committee) and the Université Paris-Saclay. Times Higher Education published today the second part of its World University Rankings by Subject 2022. Making its entry, IP Paris ranks in the TOP 30 worldwide in Physical Sciences, TOP 50 worldwide in Computer Sciences, TOP 100 worldwide in Life Sciences, and 2nd in France in Engineering.

For its entry in the QS Graduate Employability Rankings 2022, Institut Polytechnique de Paris ranks 12th worldwide and 1st in France.

Today, the Energy4Climate Interdisciplinary Center (E4C) of the Institut Polytechnique de Paris co-founded by Ecole des Ponts publishes its white book: a set of research activities to tackle energy issues to contribute to the fight against climate change.
