IP Paris final's contest of "My Thesis in 180 seconds 2026

21 Jan. 2026
On March 12, 2026, the Institut Polytechnique de Paris will host the local final of the “My Thesis in 180 Seconds” competition, a public science outreach event. Held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at École Polytechnique, the competition will bring together PhD candidates from a wide range of scientific disciplines. Their challenge: to present their research topic clearly, accessibly, and engagingly in just three minutes. At the end of the presentations, both the jury and the audience will vote to select the most compelling participants. The winners of the 1st and 2nd Jury Prizes, as well as the Audience Prize winner — or, if the Audience Prize is awarded to one of the first two Jury Prize winners, the 3rd Jury Prize winner — will represent the Institut Polytechnique de Paris at the Île-de-France regional final on April 16, 2026, alongside PhD candidates from Université Paris-Saclay, Université Paris-Est Créteil (UPEC), and CY Cergy Paris Université.

#MT180 - 2026 edition

Organised by the Doctoral Schools and the IP Paris Graduate School, the competition "My thesis in 180 seconds" gives early-career researchers the opportunity to present their work to a broad audience and, potentially, inspire future scientific careers.

The 2026 edition introduces a format specifically designed for high-school students, with the goal of fostering a meaningful and engaging connection between PhD candidates and students.

As part of this new initiative, nearly 200 high-school students will be invited by the IP Paris Equal Opportunities Center to attend the competition and participate in the audience vote.
